Maths Planning and Organisation

Image
I have collated some planning, assessment and organisation information from nzmaths to hopefully make it easier for you... Effective numeracy classrooms Effective pedagogy in mathematics booklet Share you classroom organisation ideas here... Possible assessments for the beginning of the year... NumPA is used each year in the junior school as part of our new entrant assessment. As it can be time consuming, it can be used to find out more about focus students rather than the whole class. This year as we are focusing on numeracy, all children will be NumPA tested at the beginning of the year so that we have clear baseline data. NumPA (Diagnostic Interview)  This diagnostic interview is administered in an individual interview. It is used to fully assess a student’s knowledge in all five of the knowledge domains and strategy in all three of the strategy domains. However, as this method of assessment is time-consuming, it is not intended that it be used with every member of a c...

Follow up from Numeracy Lead Teacher Tm 3

Image
A resource finder has been added to nzmaths. 'Figure it out' books are now online. Unfortunately some of the older books are not available. When they were published permission wasn't collected to post the children's photos online.  Check out the books and teachers notes here... Position and Orientation - Most of the activities we looked at for Level 2/3 were from figure it out books and were fun hands on activities.  This book was recommended for teaching angles... We looked at the unit Scatter Cat from nzmaths and how it can be adapted to use across the school. It was suggested to use video as a change from the book to engage the children. If you are wanting to clarify where your children should be working at in relation to the strands/national standards it is clearly set out on nzmaths. There are also illustrations of the standards across the levels here. The accelerating learning in maths project intervention materials are now available in draft form. ...

I need to work on getting my character running the right direction!  It is set up like movie maker only easier to use. I wanted to have a go at embedding it on a blog so here goes my beginners trial... GoAnimate.com : Rescue from Dark Castle by ictgs Like it? Create your own at GoAnimate.com . It's free and fun!
