Image
Hi. Looking at Room 2's wikispace and I was reminded of this reading website that is a great resource. It has guided reading resource, kids can read on line, it is in parts. Also has before and after discussion points and worksheets to reinforce aspects of reading skills and knowledge. Interactive Reading Games has alphabetical order games, sentences that need fullstops or capital letters etc (also with printable activities). Enjoy. (:

I have collated some planning, assessment and organisation information from nzmaths to hopefully make it easier for you... Effective numeracy classrooms Effective pedagogy in mathematics booklet Share you classroom organisation ideas here... Possible assessments for the beginning of the year... NumPA is used each year in the junior school as part of our new entrant assessment. As it can be time consuming, it can be used to find out more about focus students rather than the whole class. This year as we are focusing on numeracy, all children will be NumPA tested at the beginning of the year so that we have clear baseline data. NumPA (Diagnostic Interview)  This diagnostic interview is administered in an individual interview. It is used to fully assess a student’s knowledge in all five of the knowledge domains and strategy in all three of the strategy domains. However, as this method of assessment is time-consuming, it is not intended that it be used with every member of a c...

Ipads and Autism

One of the blogs I follow (Free technology for teachers, Richard Byrne).... had a post about ipads being used for children with autism. He had embedded a video from sixty minutes. It is interesting and is mostly focussed on apps that develop language skills with children. Have a wee squizz... it is only ten minutes long or so.... He also suggests a reading about using ipods etc with special needs kids.. :) Apps for autism
